When I met Kelly for the first time, she lightly dropped a casual, no big deal, summer bbq type of question along the lines of: “So tell me who you are – what are you passionate about?” Yeah – just casual conversation…
Hah!
I already knew by that point that Kelly’s sister, Erin, was the love of my life, and I truly didn’t think I could get any luckier than that. But at that moment when I was first getting to know Kelly, I realized that I would be even luckier than I thought – luckier beyond measure – to be gaining her as my sister someday, too. Kelly has this bright, overflowing curiosity about the world and people around her (it runs in the family!). She is one of the most loving, generous, and driven people I’ve ever known, and I got a little glimpse of that for the first time on that summer day when we met.
Flash forward about 4 years later to this beautiful September day in Michigan when I got to take photos (with my wife by my side, snapping along with me!) of that same lady (who really is my sister now!) and the love of her life as they celebrate their engagement. So now I get to be even luckier, once again, by welcoming Ethan into the family as my brother.
It is so clear how perfectly Ethan and Kelly fit together – they are both endlessly inquisitive and joyful – they love to laugh at and with each other – and their analytical brains love to take things apart and put them back together, both in literal and figurative senses. Their partnership is beautiful and strong, which made photographing them even more fun for us!
